HURON — The Huron girls’ tennis team faced three of the top teams in the Eastern South Dakota Conference during a quadrangular Saturday at Huron Courts.
The Tigers came up empty in the win column, but had an impressive showing, according to coach Rachel Kary.
“We played some great matches today and if we continue to play this way, the state tournament is going to be a good tournament for us,” she said.
Mitchell got past Huron 7-2, however, three of the singles matches were decided by tiebreakers. Brandon Valley defeated Huron 6-3 and Aberdeen Central edged the Tigers 5-4.
Say Ma and Ann Hoek combined to go 3-0 for Huron in No. 3 doubles, while AnneClaire Rubish and Lizzy Heinen were 2-1 in No. 1 doubles.
Rubish also finished 2-1 in No. 1 singles, while Ma was 2-1 in the fifth flight singles.
